As soft, warm, and cuddly as they are, babies are strange creatures.  They emerge into the world with cone-shaped heads, half-closed eyes, and wrinkled, peeling skin.  Some even have acne.  As they grow, they continue to make funny noises, find specs of dust in the air so fascinating they will cross their eyes to follow them, enjoy sucking on their own toes, and cough, splutter, spit up, and drool … usually all over us.  Ever wonder why?  Look no further.  Why Babies Do That by Jennifer Margulis is a witty and informative book that not only explains many key baby behaviors, it also inspires readers to play peek-a-boo, cuddle, bounce, and enjoy everything unique about babies ages 0 to 1.

Jennifer Margulis is a widely published freelance writer whose articles have appeared in Ms Magazine, The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, Pregnancy Magazine, Parenting, Mothering, Brain, Child, and dozens of other magazines and newspapers.  The mother of three, she is also a columnist for the Ashland Daily Tidings and the editor of the award-winning anthology Toddler: Real-Life Stories of Those Fickle, Irrational, Urgent, Tiny People We Love.

“Jennifer Margulis is fluent in infantese.  She has translated our babies’ love of bouncy balls, their funny faces and other quirks for all parents who have wondered why babies do what they do.  Why Babies Do That is sure to give new moms and dads a better understanding of the tiny bandits who’ve stolen our sleep, our homes, and our hearts.” –Martha Brockenbrough, author of It Could Happen to You: Diary Of A Pregnancy and Beyond
